Program Development for the North American Forest Insect Work Conference

The theme for NAFIWC 2006 is Metamorphosis-forces of change in forests.
The goals of the conference are:
- to address the issue of change in the diverse subjects addressed by and associated with forest
- identify the critical issues where emphasis should be directed in the near future.

In addressing these goals, we are seeking to develop a broad-based agenda including topics relating to research, development, application, and education.

The program for the NAFIWC 2006 will feature concurrent workshops (24), plenary addresses (3), and panel discussions (3).

We recognize the high level of interest in this important conference and hope to include as many topics, moderators and speakers as possible. At the same time, slots for concurrent sessions are limited and we are seeking to develop a program of the highest quality, relevance and appeal.
Submitted Session Topics:

We have established a program committee to consider all proposed plenary speakers and topics, panel topics, and concurrent session topics. The committee will:
- evaluate all submitted topics
- select sessions for inclusion in the program
- recommend and contact appropriate moderators
- schedule sessions in appropriate time slots
Guidelines for Participation:

The committee is requiring the submission of a brief abstract (< 100 words) indicating the proposed workshop title and describing the session topic and its relevance to forest entomology and the conference theme. These abstracts will aid the committee in topic evaluation. In addition, abstracts of the accepted sessions will be posted on the NAFIWC website for the benefit of potential speakers and attendees.

Please submit abstracts for proposed sessions no later than Oct. 15, 2005.

As sessions are approved and assigned to the program, information will be posted at the NAFIWC website: http://kelab.tamu.edu/nafiwc06/ .

All proposed workshops, and other suggestions for the work conference agenda, should be submitted to:
